ROAD TO GRAND FINALS:
Team EverGreen’s Journey Continues
EY4F CHANGEMAKER CHALLENGE UPDATE
As one of the two winning teams of the Changemaker Challenge, Team EverGreen from Tra Vinh University is now representing Vietnam on the global stage in the Food Systems Innovation Challenge, hosted by Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands this September.
From now until the Grand Finals, Team EverGreen is working to turn the idea they presented at the March Hackathon into real-life impact through experimental models, product development, media outreach and community engagement.
Thanks to the support from the EY4F programme and its partners, the team is developing a luffa-based innovation model that contributes to a more sustainable, circular and climate-conscious food system in Vietnam.
EVERGREEN
Over the past months, Team EverGreen has made strong progress in developing its luffa-based green innovation model.
The team has successfully set up a mobile luffa garden on the Tra Vinh University campus. This green space is now fully operational, serving as an inspiring hub where students can study, work and engage in hands-on environmental learning. Alongside this, the team is also cultivating a research garden, where luffa growth indicators are being monitored to support their technical research.
In product research and development, EverGreen has developed its core products, including Luffa Organic Gummies, Luffa Syrup and Biodegradable Luffa Water Filters. These products are currently being optimized to further improve their quality. Building on the positive initial results, the team is also expanding its product line with new luffa-based items such as luffa jam and other confectionery products.
Beyond product development, the team has also reached an important media milestone. The Agriculture and Environment Newspaper recently visited the team’s site to film and interview them, helping bring EverGreen’s zero-waste vision to a wider audience.
In the coming phase, Team EverGreen will launch an online video design contest for high school students across the province, aiming to raise climate awareness and empower young green ambassadors in the community.
The team’s long-term goal is to build a zero-waste luffa ecosystem that combines sustainable agriculture, eco-friendly food innovation, biodegradable materials and youth-led climate action.
