Youth Ambassadors
CHAO THI YEN
Chao Thi Yen is a young agriculture entrepreneur who studied Sustainable Forest Resource Management in Germany and Italy with the Erasmus Mundus scholarship. She is part of a Vietnamese ethnic minority called Dao Tuyen (Lao Cai province) and is the first member of this community to study abroad. In her autobiography called The opposite direction – From Dao village to Erasmus scholarship, she writes all about her journey of studying abroad. After her studies, she started an agriculture cooperative in the Lao Cai province.
Today, Chao Yen is more than just an entrepreneur — she’s a storyteller and educator, using social media to share her passion for agriculture and sustainability. With over 38K followers and 450K likes on TikTok (@chao_yen), she’s inspiring young people across Vietnam to see agriculture in a new light.
PHAM KIEU OANH
Kieu Oanh, a 22-year-old Business Management graduate from the University of Greenwich, is passionate about sustainability and youth empowerment. Her commitment to driving positive change was solidified after witnessing the potential of young people in local communities.
Her diverse experience includes organizing sustainability initiatives, collaborating with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, and volunteering as an English teacher for a non-profit supporting ethnic minority children. Believing that agriculture has vast potential when combined with innovation and youth creativity, Oanh is eager to contribute to a greener agricultural landscape and support Vietnam’s commitment to sustainable development goals. She values collaboration with young people and organisations who share her vision for a sustainable agri-food system.
TRAN THAI BINH
Although graduating with a degree in Crop Science, Binh has always preferred to be called a farmer. He has been dedicated to agriculture for nearly 10 years and is currently the co-founder of Green Beli Farm - a small farm in Gia Lai that grows various fruit trees (guava, tangerine, avocado, jackfruit, etc.) and pine trees.
Every year, his farm organises tree-planting activities for students to help them get closer to agriculture and raise awareness about environmental and forest protection. This is also the goal and direction he wants to pursue by participating in the Empower Youth4Food Campaign.
VO THI GIAU
Vo Thi Giau is a third-year Business Administration student at Can Tho University, with a keen interest in project management and sustainable development. She has experience working on climate change and circular economy projects in the Mekong Delta, and also broadened her perspective on green transition by participating in a renewable energy event in the Philippines.
Currently, Giau serves on the Vietnam Youth Advisory Board for the European Union Delegation, engaging with national sustainable development policies. She is driven by the belief that young people are a vital force for shaping the future. Becoming a Youth Ambassador for the Empower Youth4Food campaign would allow her to promote youth-led initiatives and contribute to a more sustainable agri-food system in Vietnam.
DUONG THI TUYET
Ms. Duong Thi Tuyet is a recent Public Health graduate with a strong interest in environmental health and sustainable food systems. Her experience includes participating in youth-led environmental initiatives and interning at the Climate Action Team of Alliance of Bioversity International - CIAT, where she helped farmers in the Mekong River Delta. These experiences gave her a deeper understanding of the links between climate change, agriculture, and nutrition.
Believing that small daily actions can create meaningful change, she is passionate about inspiring young people to promote healthy diets and sustainable living. As a Youth Ambassador, she is committed to empowering Vietnamese youth to build a more resilient agri-food system.
PHAN HAI UYEN
Phan Hai Uyen is a high school student with a strong interest in biology. Growing up in Vietnam, Uyen has always been surrounded by agriculture, from everyday meals to local markets, and this has shaped her awareness of food, the environment, and how deeply they’re connected. Uyen has been involved in various student-led projects and nonprofit activities, where she enjoys combining science with creativity and community impact.
She believes that young people can bring a fresh, practical perspective to sustainable development. Joining this campaign, Uyen hopes to connect with other passionate youth, learn more about Vietnam’s agri-food system, and contribute ideas that are both innovative and realistic. For her, this is not just about science — it’s about creating small changes that matter, starting from the ground up.
NGUYEN BAO KHANG
Nguyen Bao Khang is a final year student majoring in Aquaculture at Can Tho University. Throughout his studies, he has gained comprehensive knowledge in aquatic biology, farming techniques, environmental management, and food safety. He is particularly interested in sustainable and environmentally friendly aquaculture models that can be practically applied in local communities. Growing up in Viet Nam, where agriculture and aquaculture are deeply intertwined with daily life, Khang is motivated to contribute to the green transformation of Vietnam’s agri-food sector.
Khang believes that young people play a vital role in driving change through innovation, responsibility, and community engagement. Joining this campaign offers him a valuable opportunity to learn from others, share his perspective as a young aquaculture student, and help promote a more resilient and sustainable future for Vietnam’s food systems.
DUONG VAN THANH DO
Mr. Duong Van Thanh Do is a biotechnology student at Can Tho University, enrolled in the Advanced Program in partnership with Michigan State University - USA. His academic focus on environmental microbiology and sustainable agriculture. He has conducted research on microbial degradation of aquaculture waste and led student projects applying bacteria for water quality improvement.
In 2024, he was selected as a Fall YSEALI Academic Fellow by the U.S. Department of State and received leadership training in East-West Center - Hawaii and University of California - Berkeley. As an Ambassador for the Empower Youth 4Food (EY4F) Campaign, Mr. Do supported student visits to agribusiness zones and actively promoted the program at exhibitions, conferences, and social media. He has also facilitated youth initiatives on climate resilience in the Mekong Delta.
LU NGUYEN THANH HIEU
Lu Nguyen Thanh Hieu is an International Business student at Can Tho University, Vietnam. His academic journey began with a research project on food systems, which gave him firsthand insight into the challenges of the local food sector in Can Tho city. This experience deepened his commitment to finding solutions for these issues.
His recent participation in the global Empower Young4Food challenge solidified his desire to become a changemaker in the agri-food sector. His goal is to help transform Vietnam's shrimp farming industry by assisting farmers and businesses in optimising their use of supporting ponds in a way that is profitable, environmentally sustainable, and socially impactful. As a young person, he is motivated to make a positive difference in Vietnam's agri-food sector, ensuring it becomes more sustainable and resilient for future generations.
NGUYEN HONG MINH
Minh is currently studying Environmental and Resource Management at Can Tho University. With an academic background in environmental science, she believes agriculture is not only about food security but also about the environment and sustainable development. This is especially true in the Mekong Delta, a region she has become closely involved with through her studies and research, where agriculture is a key economic driver.
As a Youth Ambassador for the campaign, Minh aims to highlight the voice and role of young people in sustainable agricultural development. She also hopes to connect with and inspire other young people to help build a greener agricultural sector that is better adapted to climate change. Additionally, she wishes to contribute a practical solution to help address environmental issues in the Mekong Delta.
LUU NGOC DANG
Born and raised in a family of aquaculture farmers in Ca Mau province, Ngoc Dang was brought up on shrimp and fish. This upbringing inspired him to study aquaculture with the goal of contributing to the development of his hometown and Vietnam's traditional farming sector.
With the current state of climate change posing significant challenges to the aquaculture industry both domestically and internationally, the ability to supply quality food is at risk. Therefore, Dang has joined the campaign as a Youth Ambassador to contribute to the sustainable development of the food sector in general and aquaculture in particular.
TRUONG BA TUNG
Ba Tung studied Agriculture at Van Hall Larenstein in Wageningen and International Business at IPU New Zealand. His professional work focuses on developing agricultural projects and connecting stakeholders to ensure a sustainable, long-term impact. He also has a strong interest in how technology, particularly AI and the Internet of Things, can transform farming.
This is Tung’s second year with the Empower Youth4Food campaign. He believes that with the right tools and support, young people can lead the change toward smarter, more resilient agriculture. He is grateful to be part of a community that facilitates the exchange of knowledge and ideas to build a better future for food and farming.
DANG CAM NHUNG
With a specialist academic background in Resource and Environmental Management and a long-standing passion for sustainable development, Nhung consistently seeks opportunities to contribute to practical initiatives for the community and environment.
During her studies and research, she conducted projects related to waste, efficient resource use, and climate change adaptation solutions in the Mekong Delta—a region severely affected by environmental and agricultural challenges. These experiences motivated her to join the sustainable food industry transition campaign as a Youth Ambassador.
She believes that with the support of the younger generation, innovative and multi-dimensional approaches can help foster a sustainable, green, and clean agri-food system in Vietnam.
NGUYEN HONG MINH
Nguyen Hong Minh is a Food Safety Specialist at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Viet Nam, where she provides technical expertise and coordinates projects on food safety and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
She holds a Master’s degree in Food and Beverage Innovation and Management from Marche Polytechnic University, Italy, awarded through the fully funded FLOR scholarship. Minh also has research experience with Viet Nam National University of Agriculture, Marche Polytechnic University, and Ghent University in Belgium.Before joining FAO Viet Nam, she worked at FAO Headquarters in Rome with the Codex Alimentarius Secretariat, first as an intern and later as a Programme Support Specialist.
As an Empower Youth4Food Youth Ambassador, Minh hopes to amplify youth voices in shaping safer, healthier, and more sustainable food systems in Viet Nam.
LE THI YEN NHI
Le Thi Yen Nhi is a third-year student at the Vietnam National University of Forestry, specializing in carbon management and climate change. She is passionate about sustainable development, climate action, and community empowerment.
Nhi has participated in projects on sustainable livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, youth engagement, and climate adaptation. Her experience includes supporting ethnic minority women in Lao Cai through a cinnamon by-product model, coordinating an environmental program in Hanoi with over 200 participants, and joining research on carbon emissions in agroforestry systems.
As an Empower Youth4Food Youth Ambassador, Nhi hopes to amplify youth voices in building more sustainable and resilient food systems in Viet Nam, while contributing to climate action and sustainable livelihoods.
TA QUYNH ANH
Ta Quynh Anh is currently studying Business Data Analytics at Vietnam National University, Hanoi. She is passionate about communication, youth engagement, and creating social impact through storytelling and community activities.
She has participated in organizing university events, supporting media campaigns, and contributing to communication projects for student organizations and programs. These experiences have helped her strengthen teamwork, leadership, adaptability, and communication skills.
As an Empower Youth4Food Youth Ambassador, Quynh Anh hopes to raise awareness, encourage youth participation, and use communication to inspire positive change toward more sustainable and inclusive food systems in Viet Nam.
NGUYEN MINH ANH
Nguyen Minh Anh is a preventive medicine doctor specializing in public health nutrition at the National Institute of Nutrition, Ministry of Health, Viet Nam. Her work focuses on the connection between healthy diets, food safety, and environmental sustainability.
She believes that preventing malnutrition and non-communicable diseases starts from building food systems that provide safe, nutritious, and sustainably produced food. Through her work, Minh Anh aims to bridge nutritional science with sustainable farming practices.
As an Empower Youth4Food Youth Ambassador, she hopes to promote youth engagement in creating healthier and more sustainable food systems in Viet Nam, where agriculture is not only about feeding people, but truly nourishing communities.
NGUYEN THE MANH
The Manh is an Environmental and Resource Management student at the National Economics University. He is passionate about environmental protection, sustainable development, and sharing knowledge to inspire positive change.
His commitment to sustainability began during high school through a Red Cross volunteer project in Nghe An, where he supported local farmers in livestock and crop cultivation in remote areas.
As an Empower Youth4Food Communications Ambassador, Manh hopes to raise awareness of sustainable consumption and contribute to the transformation of Viet Nam’s agri-food sector through long-term, practical actions.
HUE CHI
Hue Chi is currently a third-year student at Vietnam National University of Forestry, where she is building a strong academic foundation in forestry, natural resource management, and sustainable development. Through her studies and field experiences, she has engaged with topics related to forests, rural livelihoods, and sustainable food and agricultural systems.
She has also worked with local farmers and youth communities, which helped her better understand the challenges and opportunities of climate-resilient food systems in Viet Nam. As an Empower Youth4Food Youth Ambassador, Hue Chi hopes to learn, connect, and contribute through youth-led actions that promote more sustainable and inclusive food systems and communities.
