Mr Harvick Husnul Qolbi

Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Born in Jakarta, November 17, 1974, Mr Harvick Hasnul Qalbi received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Persada, Indonesia.

Mr. Harvick is also known as a Muslim-intellectual since he serves as the Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Economic Institute (LPNU). Moreover, he has also served as Chairman of the Presidium of MPP ICMI (Association of Muslim intellectuals).

As a Deputy Minister, he is committed to optimizing youth’s role and involvement in food and agriculture innovation through coordination and synergy between ministries/state institutions and the private sectors.

Mr Takayuki Hagiwara

Regional Programme Leader &

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Mr. Hagiwara joined FAO in 2003 and is currently working as the Regional Programme Lead at the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. He has been working as a natural resources management specialist for over 25 years. During his career, he spent 17 years at the FAO Investment Centre where FAO provides technical assistance to World Bank and IFAD projects in which he was the Service Chief for the Asia and the Pacific region for 5 years.

He has prepared and implemented various projects in different areas including community-based natural resources management and livelihood development, including the Pakistan GCF-FAO project - Transforming the Indus Basin with Climate Resilient Agriculture and Water Management, approved in July 2019, which was the first GCF-FAO project in Asia. He has conducted a number of trainings and published a farmer field school implementation guide based on his practical experiences in the field. He was the lead technical officer on the Sustainable Livelihood Development Project in Kenya’s Mau Forest Complex, which received FAO’s Edouard Saouma Award in 2013. He holds a master’s degree from Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Ms Lysette Lacambra (Philippines)

Technical Specialist, East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation, Thailand

Lysette has been working extensively with farmers for over 15 years, focused on knowledge transfer and training approaches that enable smallholders to be more productive and successful. In her current position, she takes on a group-level role to strengthen the capacity of local field teams across EWS KT countries in Africa and Asia and to develop technical materials aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of smallholder farmers. She has a master’s degree in plant sciences with specialization in Plant Pathology and Entomology from Wageningen University.

Ms Emily Thuy (Vietnam)

Strategic Marketing Manager for Vietnam and Cambodia, De Heus

Emily is Strategic Marketing Manager for Vietnam and Cambodia based in Vietnam at Royal De Heus, an international organisation with a leading position in the animal feed industry. Emily took a Bachelor International Business Administration at Erasmus University in the Netherlands in 2011 - 2014.

Mr Ra Throng (Cambodia)

National Food Safety Expert, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Cambodia

In the last nine years, Ra Thorng has been assigned as the Program Coordinator of Mekong Institute an intergovernmental organization based in Thailand. He leads food safety and food security trainings and campaigns on the Promoting Safe Food for Everyone (PROSAFE) project under the Mekong Institute, Cambodia. The five-year project provides training and support for Mekong countries, including Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam, targeting government officials on agriculture and food safety as well as private sectors. The capacity building programs also allow Ra Thorng to work closely with government agencies, business and private sectors, universities, NGOs to strive for a collective action in strengthening national food safety system and improving horticulture value chain through various activities, include research, consultancy, training and advocacy.

He has been just appointed as the National Food Safety Expert, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Cambodia.

Dr Mohammad Arifur Rahman (Bangladesh)

Senior Scientific Officer, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Bangladesh

Mohammad Arifur Rahman from Bangladesh is an awardee of The Netherlands Government’s NFP/TP Fellowship on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) & Food Safety at Wageningen University in 2012. He now holds his PhD degree and been assigned as Senior Scientific Officer at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) under Ministry of Agriculture. Introducing himself as an ‘entomologist’, Mohammad concerns to develop eco-friendly IPM packages which help farmers to grow more food by protecting field & fruit crops from insect pests to ensure increasing productivity. He conducts Training of Trainers (ToT) to producers delivering lectures and presentation on integrated pest management (IPM) against Insect pest of field & fruit crops and food safety.

Mr Widyoseno Estitoyo (Indonesia)

Founder of Haveltea

Seno is an experienced entrepreneur with a demonstrated history of working in the food & beverages industry. Skilled in Business Planning, Market Research, Management, Presentation Development, and International Marketing, he received his BBA’s degree in Marketing from Hanzehogeschool Groningen.

In 2015, he founded Haveltea, an Indonesian Pure Leaf Tea Purveyor serving to customer, food service, export, and private label company. Haveltea has achieved Top 30 Food Startup Indonesia organized by BEKRAF in 2017.
